    Controlling Radon in New Canadian Homes (CRNCH)

    Course Focus:

    This course is targeted to persons who design, build or inspect new, low-rise dwellings in Canada. It provides training on how to comply with BC Building Code and National Building Code of Canada(NBC) soil gas requirements, and local building codes, to minimize the entry of radon and other soil gases plus methods on how to achieve even better performance of radon control.

    The objectives of the course include;

    1. Preparing you to design, supervise and build homes that have lower levels of radon.

    2. Understanding the details outlined in the National Building Code (NBC), BC Building Code and referenced standards.

    3. Developing a deeper understanding of the health risk that radon represents.

    4. Preparing you to challenge the national C-NRPP exam for the CRNHC certification.

              

    This course is essential for: Home Builders, Building Inspectors, Public Health Officials, Plumbers, Architects, Engineers, Building Designers



    Course Instructor: Marcel Brascoupe


    Marcel Brascoupe has many years experience working on radon mitigations in Canada.  He is one of our premier Canadian trainers and he is fluent in both English and French.  He has worked with Health Canada on designing and installing systems as part of their research projects, and he tested and fixed two First Nation communities through training and empower local workers with in the community.  He is an engaging trainer with varied experiences that he freely shares with his course participants.

    $2 500 (exam fee included)


    Radon Measurement Course(only): $740.00

    Radon Mitigation Course (only) : $1 950 (must have previously take the Radon Measurement Course)

    Location: Element Vancouver Metrotown & Trattoria Burnaby, 5988 Willingdon Avenue,  Burnaby, BC V5H 2A7

    Note, the course will include field experience which will be offsite, the offsite location will be close to the classroom location and will be provided to you during the first day of the course.


    Course Focus:

    Radon awareness is increasing, and with it is the need for properly trained professionals to help homeowners reduce their indoor radon levels.  This course is designed to prepare people to become Radon Mitigation Professionals certified through C-NRPP.  It is based on Health Canada's scientific approach to radon mitigation.  Course participants will be trained in techniques to interpret radon test results, understand radon entry, conduct diagnostic testing and design and/or installation of radon mitigation systems and determine the most effective way to manage radon concentrations within buildings.

    The objectives of the course include:

    • Understanding radon
    • understanding radon entry
    • Site survey in a residential dwelling
    • Communication Test with micromanometer
    • Design of piping and fan fitting
    • Identify difficulties in installation
    • Hands on experience

    This course is essential for: Home Builders, Building Inspectors, Public Health Officials, Plumbers, Architects, Engineers, Building Designers

    This course will prepare you for C-NRPP Certification.  You can find information on the steps and cost of certification here.

    Registration deadline December 31, but register early as we limit the number of participants to due to the hands on portion of the course.

     Préparation à l’examen en vue de la certification par le Programme national de compétence sur le radon au Canada (PNCR-C/C-NRPP)

    Les participants ayant suivi le cours et obtenu une note minimale de 70 % à l’examen peuvent faire une demande de certification PNCR-C. Cette certification est reconnue par Santé Canada. Pour plus d’information, cliquer ici.
