The relationship between soil and a building is generally the largest contributor radon in indoor air but homes supplied with groundwater may also have some radon concentration resulting from the degassing of radon solubilized in groundwater on any floors given water usage.

A project was conducted with the municipality of Chelsea in Outaouais known to have a high prevalence of radon in the air and in the water as well as a high occurrence of natural Uranium in underground water.
