Travelling to Moncton for this year's conference will be worth the trip! Moncton is located in the Petitcodiac River Valley at the centre of the Maritime Provinces. Moncton people are nicknamed the "Tide People", as the river Petitcodia flows into the Bay of Fundy, and when the tides change it creates a "Tidal Bore" right in downtown Moncton. Moncton is nicknamed the "Hub City" because of its central inland location in the region and its history as a railway and land transportation hub for the Maritimes. It is the most populated city in New Brunswick. Here are some details to help you with planning your trip. Explore behind the scenes of Fantech's operations, learn about their manufacturing process, including adjustments to timing, and witness the production of HRVs firsthand. Enjoy refreshments during your visit. Transportation will be provided by CARST and Fantech, departing from the conference hotel at 1:45pm AST for a 2:15pm tour start. Wednesday evening Meet and Greet The Conference officially kicks off on Wednesday evening. Join us to tour the exhibitor booths, meet some Conference sponsors and other attendees, and enjoy some hors d'oeuvres! | Jared Bishop took on First Nations radon testing with the North Shore Mi'kmaq communities as the focus of his Master's research. Varied geology, unique building codes, and a pandemic all created an environment where being able to pivot and change strategies quickly were required. Lessons learned are free to all who have interest! | Corey Carson, is a technical advisor with Codes Canada, a division of the National Research Council. Corey’s primary focus is his work supporting the Standing Committee on Housing and Small Buildings, which oversees Part 9 of the National Building Code. Corey will present the Progress of the Task Group on Radon and Soil Gas Mitigation 2024. |
| Mathieu Brossard works as a regional specialist radiation at Health Canada in the Environmental Health Program of since 2008. He holds baccalaureate and master degrees in biochemistry. | Melanie Langille is an environmental scientist with a technical background in human health risk assessment. As a former subject matter expert on soil vapour intrusion with the Atlantic Partnership in Risk-Based Corrective Action Implementation (Atlantic PIRI), she served as the lead author for the technical guidance for soil vapour intrusion assessments in Atlantic Canada in 2016. As President and CEO of NB Lung she leads public outreach and awareness initiatives communicating air quality science to the general public. |
| Janet Gaskin is an Associate Research Officer in the Ventilation and Indoor Air Quality group at the National Research Council of Canada. Her research includes intervention studies evaluating the impact of building technologies to reduce indoor air exposures associated with adverse health effects. This research is extended to conducting cost-benefit analyses that quantify the health benefits and treatment costs averted as a result of a reduction in exposure. My recent research has been focused on residential radon, and she is currently a member of a United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR) working group evaluating public exposures to radon. |
