Lessons we are learning from the COVID-19 pandemic for radiological risk communication SHARE invites you to JOIN US FOR a LIVE WEBINAR Thursday 26th March 2020 15.00 – 16.30 (CET)
6am PDT; 7am MDT; 8am CDT; 9am EDT; 10am PDT
"You can't see, smell, or taste it, but it may be a problem..." This message rings a bell for all scientists working in ionising radiation research. There are similarities and differences between radiation and Covid-19 when it comes to communication, which need to be explored. And while it may be early to conclude final lessons from the Covid-19 outbreak for radiological risk communication, it is certainly the right time to discuss, evaluate and reflect on emerging implications. The SHARE research platform will host a 90-minute webinar to provide a risk communication perspective on the current situation. The aim of the webinar is to draw together insights from a variety of risk communicators and top experts on radiological risk perception and its relations to the Covid-19 context. Experts from the SHARE Platform will offer their perspectives on what we can learn from today's situation in reference to Covid-19 and will consider wider challenges to risk perception, crisis communication and issues of trust. Panelists for the webinar are:
Prof. Dr. Ortwin Renn, Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies, IAAS Postdam, Germany Prof. Dr. Britt-Marie Drottz Sjøberg, Department of Psychology, University of Science and Technology, Norway Mr. Patrick Meschenmoser, Mesh & Moser Situation Management, Austria Mr. Azby Brown, Citizen Scientist Organisation, SAFECAST, Japan Dr. Tanja Perko, Institute for Environment, Health and Safety, Belgian Nuclear Research Centre, SCK CEN, Belgium
